FocusFlight ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our website at focusflight.net.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
FocusFlight does not require you to create an account or provide personal information to use the timer. If you contact us directly by email, we receive your email address and message content. If you use our contact form, you provide your name, email address, selected topic, and message content. The contact form is processed on our behalf by Formspree, as described below.
Information Stored Locally
FocusFlight stores the following data in your browser's localStorage — this data never leaves your device:
- Your chosen home airport code
- Your session completion count and unlock progress
- Your audio preferences (volume settings)
- Your theme preference
- Whether you have completed the onboarding flow
You can clear all locally stored data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for focusflight.net.
FocusFlight also uses a service worker to cache static assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and audio) locally on your device for performance and offline support. This cache is not used for tracking.
Geolocation (Optional, Consent-Based)
FocusFlight can suggest your closest real airport as a starting point. To do that, the app may ask your browser for your approximate location via the standard Geolocation API.
- Activation is opt-in. The browser permission prompt appears only after you press the "Detect Nearest Airport" button. If you press "Pick from a list" instead, no geolocation request is made.
- Lawful basis (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)): your explicit consent given through the browser's permission dialog.
- Data flow: your coordinates are processed entirely in your browser. They are matched against a static airport list bundled with the app. Your coordinates are never transmitted to FocusFlight servers, third-party advertisers, or analytics providers.
- Storage: your coordinates are not stored. Only the airport code you confirm (e.g., "PEK") is saved in your browser's localStorage.
- Withdrawing permission: open your browser's site settings for focusflight.net and revoke the location permission at any time. The app will keep working — you will simply pick airports from the list manually.
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit FocusFlight or submit its contact form, third-party services may automatically process technical and usage information such as:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Domain name and access time
- Referring URL
- Pages visited and time spent
2. Analytics, Advertising, Form, and Consent Services
The following services are used now or are being prepared for the stated future use. Their status is described separately so this policy does not imply that a service still under integration or review is already active.
Google Tag Manager
FocusFlight uses Google Tag Manager (GTM) to manage website tags. GTM loads Google Analytics 4; FocusFlight does not also load a separate direct gtag.js analytics loader. Google tags receive the consent signals described below. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is loaded through Google Tag Manager to help us understand site visits and usage patterns, including pages viewed, referral information, approximate session timing, and browser or device information. Google may process technical information such as an IP address when providing this service. GA4 is governed by the consent signals described below. For more information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns and to support site performance and security. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or track individual users across sites. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Google AdSense (ca-pub-6660696930590269)
Status: FocusFlight is applying to Google AdSense and may enable advertising in the future. No ads are currently being served, and FocusFlight currently receives no advertising revenue.
If AdSense is enabled in the future, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, subject to applicable consent requirements. Where consent is not provided, Google may serve limited or non-personalized ads where legally permitted. The technologies and data used depend on Google's policies, the user's location, and the applicable consent signals.
You can manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. For more information, see Google's advertising policies.
Formspree
Formspree is our contact-form service provider and data processor. It processes submissions on our behalf so that we can receive the form submission and have it delivered by email. The form data includes your name, email address, selected topic, and message content. Formspree may also process technical logs including your IP address, browser type, domain name, access time, and referring website address.
Formspree uses this information to receive form submissions and send emails, operate and secure its service, maintain service quality, provide usage statistics, and prevent fraud. Formspree does not state a fixed retention period for this data. Its policy says that information is retained only for as long as necessary for the stated purposes or to provide the service; logs may also be retained for internal analysis, safety and security, service improvement, or longer where legally required.
To request deletion, first contact us at support@focusflight.net so we can address data associated with your FocusFlight contact submission. You may also contact Formspree at team@formspree.io or use its data request page. Formspree states that it responds to legitimate data requests within 45 days, subject to identity verification and information it is legally required to retain. See the Formspree Privacy Policy.
Google-Certified Consent Management Platform
Status: FocusFlight has enabled Google's certified CMP through its European regulations message. It includes IAB TCF support and offers Accept, Do not consent, and Manage options controls. You can reopen it at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.
3. How We Use Information
The information collected (primarily through third-party tools) is used to:
- Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the app
- Receive contact-form submissions and respond to support inquiries
- Ensure the technical security and performance of the site
- Support carefully placed advertising in the future if Google AdSense is approved and enabled
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for any purpose other than those described in this policy.
4. Third-Party Advertising
FocusFlight is currently free to use. We may introduce carefully placed, non-intrusive advertising in the future to support operating costs. Google AdSense is currently under application and is not serving ads, so FocusFlight has no current advertising revenue. If advertising is enabled later, this policy and the site's consent controls will be updated as needed.
5. GDPR Compliance (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable local laws.
Legal Basis for Processing
- Legitimate interests: We rely on legitimate interests where appropriate to operate, secure, and improve FocusFlight and to respond to inquiries.
- Consent: Where applicable law requires consent for analytics or advertising technologies, we rely on the consent signals you provide and allow you to withdraw that consent.
- Steps at your request: We process the information you submit when you ask us to respond to a contact or support request.
Your Rights Under GDPR
- Right of access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to restriction: You can request that we restrict processing of your data.
- Right to data portability: You can request your data in a portable format.
- Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: You can review or withdraw cookie consent at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Opt Out of Personalized Ads
You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out via the NAI opt-out page or the DAA opt-out page.
Clear Local Data
All app preferences stored in localStorage can be deleted by clearing your browser's storage for focusflight.net via your browser's developer tools or privacy settings.
Request Deletion of Contact Data
To request deletion of personal data connected with an email or contact-form submission, email support@focusflight.net. For data processed by Formspree, you may also email team@formspree.io or submit Formspree's data request form. Formspree states that it responds to legitimate data requests within 45 days, subject to verification and legal retention requirements.
Cookie Preferences and Consent Mode
FocusFlight uses Google's certified CMP (European regulations message, with IAB TCF support) together with Google Consent Mode v2 to honor your cookie preference. Until you make a choice in the CMP, all advertising and personalization signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage) default to denied.
- If you choose Accept, those signals are updated to granted, and Google may serve personalized ads based on cookies.
- If you choose Do not consent, the signals stay denied. Where consent is not provided, Google may serve limited or non-personalized ads where legally permitted. The technologies and data used depend on Google's policies, the user's location, and the applicable consent signals.
- Use Manage options for granular choices. You can reopen the CMP at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.
7. Data Retention
App preferences remain in your browser until you clear them. We retain email and contact-form communications only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate business records, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.
Formspree does not publish a fixed retention period. It retains information only for as long as necessary for the purposes in its policy or to provide its service, and may retain logs for internal analysis, safety and security, service improvement, or longer where legally required. Analytics providers retain information according to their own settings and policies linked above.
8. Children's Privacy
FocusFlight is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
